This image shows Abell S1063, a huge galaxy cluster whose gravity bends and magnifies light from galaxies far behind it. The red streaks scattered across the image are distorted views of distant galaxies, some from the Universe's earliest eras. By using this natural magnifying effect, the James Webb Space Telescope can investigate objects that would otherwise remain beyond its reach.
