This phase includes a ban on: • Single-use Styrofoam cups • Plastic straws • Plastic cotton swabs • Disposable plastic table covers • Styrofoam food containers • Plastic stirrers

Single-use plastic products are a major source of litter and pollution in our environment. These products take a very long time to decompose and leave behind microplastics, which enter the food chain of both animals and humans.

The ban will be implemented gradually from 1 January 2025 to 31 May 2025, to ensure awareness and a smooth transition in the market, with full implementation starting on 1 June 2025.

This resolution applies to single-use products that are sold, traded, or used by sellers and consumers within the Emirate of Dubai, including Special Development Zones and Free Zones, such as the Dubai International Financial Centre and Dubai World Central.
