Originally booked into the 'Palace' but then got told it was closed due to refurbishment, so got placed in the 'Arabian Court' but with the same privileges. Unfortunately, there were only 2 restaurants that we could eat in and limited drinks within our half board package. The rooms and hotel were clean and spacious, which was one of the saving points; however, on the weekend, the pool area was extremely busy due to locals paying for the day. My main reason for the low score and terrible service is based on the fact that, for the last 35 years, we have stayed at the Jumeirah Beach Hotel, and we thought this year we would have a change for my wife's 60th, so we travelled with family also. Every year, we understand on arrival that a room security deposit is taken on a card, but this is purely a security deposit and should not be taken from the card until expenses have been deducted on completion of the stay. On this occasion, I noticed the amount of £1,500 had been deducted from my card the same day as arrival. On departure, I then used another card to pay the outstanding balance, which was minimal and asked the £1,500 to be put back onto my card immediately, as it shouldn't have been deducted from the card anyway, just placed to one side should it be needed. Now, 2 weeks after returning to the UK the balance still hasn't been returned to the card and after e-mails I am told nothing apart from it was returned on the day of departure. Credit cards and debit cards do not take 14 + days to have monies returned. Over the past 35 yrs this has been returned within 2-3 days, so unfortunately I am warning people that this could happen at this hotel so be wary on booking. I am now attempting to get this refunded through my bank as this hotel and group dont seem to be bothering. Won't be staying here again as a result of this.

To conclude our vacation, we stayed at the One&Only Royal Mirage for three nights. It is a beautiful hotel. Very clean and the staff are always friendly and helpful. We had booked half board. The breakfast and dinner were very impressive. There could have been a few more alternatives for people with allergies, but everyone got full. However, the prices at the hotel (e.g., for drinks) are quite high, but that's just how it is in Dubai and in a top hotel. We can recommend it with a clear conscience. However, perhaps not at the end of August. It was hot...
