This policy explains what BEST OF collects, why, and what you can ask us to do about it. It describes what the platform actually does today, not what it may do later. When that changes, this page changes with it and the date above moves.
BEST OF is operated from Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
The short version
We collect as little as we can. We do not sell your data. We do not run advertising. Nothing you give us is passed to anyone for marketing.
If you want anything we hold about you deleted, email us and we will delete it.
What we collect, and why
If you post, ask or reply without an account. You can use BEST OF without registering. When you post something we store the content you wrote, the time you wrote it, and a random identifier held in your browser so the platform can tell your own contributions apart from everybody else's.
That identifier is not your name, your email address or your IP address. It is a random string. If you clear your browser data it is gone, and we have no way of connecting the old one to the new one.
We also store your IP address briefly for spam and abuse protection.
If you rise, save, follow or enquire about something. We record that the action happened, what it was about, and when. This is how the platform works: a rise means nothing unless it is counted, and an enquiry tells us whether a page was useful. An enquiry records that you asked for a way to contact a business and which way you asked for. We do not pass your enquiry to the business, and we do not tell them you looked. These records are stored on infrastructure operated by Cloudflare.
If you register an account. We store the details you give us at registration and the content you post.
If you give us your email address for the daily edition. We store the address, the time you gave it, and which page you gave it on. Nothing else. We are not currently sending any email. Addresses are held until we have an email system, and you will only ever receive the thing you signed up for. You can ask us to delete your address at any time and we will.
Automatically, when you visit. Like any website, our servers and our hosting and network providers record technical information about requests: pages requested, times, browser type, and IP addresses. This is used to keep the site working and to protect it from attack.
Automated moderation
Content posted to BEST OF is screened automatically for spam, abuse and content that breaks our rules. To do that, the text of a post is sent to Anthropic's API for classification and a result is returned.
Only the content of the post is sent. We do not attach your identity to it. If you write identifying details into a post yourself, those are part of the content.
Content that fails screening may be hidden. A person reviews anything flagged.
Who else is involved
We use a small number of service providers who process data on our behalf: Kinsta for hosting, Cloudflare for network, security and data storage, and Anthropic for automated content moderation.
We do not sell or rent your data, and we do not share it with anyone for their own marketing. We may disclose information if we are legally required to.
Where your data is held
BEST OF operates from the UAE. Our providers operate globally, so data may be processed outside the UAE, including in the European Union and the United States.
How long we keep things
Content you post stays until you or we remove it. Email addresses stay until you ask us to delete them, or until we decide not to launch the daily edition, at which point they are deleted. Anonymous identifiers persist in your browser until you clear it. Technical logs are kept for a short period for security and troubleshooting.
What you can ask us to do
You can ask us to tell you what we hold about you, correct anything wrong, delete your data, or stop using it.
Email hello@bestofglobal.com and we will do it. We will not ask you why.
If you have an account, deleting it removes your details. Content you posted may remain unless you ask for it to be removed too, in which case we will remove it.
Children
BEST OF is not intended for children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect data from them. If you believe a child has given us information, contact us and we will delete it.
Cookies and similar storage
We use browser storage for things the platform cannot work without: a random identifier so your own contributions can be recognised, and a note of whether you have seen certain things before so you are not shown them repeatedly.
We do not use advertising or tracking cookies. Our hosting and network providers set their own technical cookies to route and protect traffic.
Changes
If this policy changes materially we will update the date at the top. If the change affects something you have already given us, we will say so on the site.
