Lake Baikal Holds About a Fifth of the Planetโ€™s Unfrozen Fresh Water

Siberia's Lake Baikal is around 25 million years old and reaches roughly 1,700 metres at its deepest point. In winter, its vast clear ice can fracture into dramatic blue plates and geometric cracks, turning the world's deepest lake into an entirely different landscape.
