WHAT HAPPENED
Etihad Rail’s historic debut
On 30 June 2026, Etihad Rail inaugurated its first national passenger service when the inaugural train departed from Fujairah’s Al Hilal City station at 5:34 am and reached Mohamed bin Zayed City in Abu Dhabi at approximately 7:00 am—taking around 1 hour 45 minutes and shaving about an hour off the usual road travel time. The train carries up to 400 passengers, supports speeds up to 200 km/h, and offers onboard amenities including Wi‑Fi, power outlets and catering options, while stations feature cafes, retail outlets and shuttle integration. Significantly, discounted fares (AED 55 Comfort; AED 120 Premium) are in force for the introductory period, and tickets went on sale via the Etihad Rail website and mobile app from 23 June.
